Pewter Cream Jug by Pitt

SOLD

There could be no better way to start this email blast than with this cream jug. This English export piece is 3 5/8” high. It is marked by Richard Pitt who worked in London from 1747-1792. Rating from 1-10 on greatness, this is a 12. The design is flawless. The trifid feet add to its gracefulness. The condition of the metal is fine. The mark is located on the outside bottom. Even the spout has added interest with the small drop. Pewter 18th Century creamers are much rarer than those made out of silver as silver had a value by itself and pewter did not. Silver was valued by the troy ounce and pewter by the pound!
